Ingredients Glossary
AIM is committed to keeping every product we produce as “close to nature” as possible. We have maintained our commitment with these products. You will notice a broad range of natural, botanical components in dailyLife™ products. To preserve the purity and efficacy of the products over time, we have included a minimal amount of preservatives (less than 1 percent of any product formula).
We believe all consumers have the right to choose carefully what they put in and on their body. Therefore, we have included this information on our dailyLife™ product ingredients to allow you to make a fully informed decision when choosing to use the dailyLife™ products.
Sodium Palmate
Sodium palmate is a vegetable oil which produces a dense bar of soap with mild cleansing properties.
Sodium Palm Kernalate
This cleansing agent is derived from palm oil.
Water
Because our products are so effectively absorbed, we are careful that the water your skin and hair is absorbing is safe and pure.
Glycerin
Glycerin is a key ingredient in dailyLife™ skin care products. As an emollient, glycerin helps to balance moisture levels. Glycerin soap is used on sensitive, easily irritated skin because it prevents skin dryness with its moisturizing properties. One of the components of our skin’s natural lipid structure is glycerin. It enhances the skin’s ability to attract and retain its own natural moisture, leaving it feeling soft. It also provides a moisture barrier while still allowing the skin to breathe. The glycerin we use is naturally sourced from coconut, palm kernel, and palm oils, and has a long history of safe use. Some skin care products use glycerin from tallow, an animal fat-based ingredient. We choose to avoid glycerin from tallow due to our long-standing commitment not to use animal ingredients in our products.
Shea (Butyrospermum parkii) Butter
The Butyrospermum parkii (shea) tree is indigenous to Africa. The fruit of a shea tree is composed of slender, tart, nutritious flesh surrounding a moderately large, oil-rich seed from which shea butter is extracted. Shea butter can have both biochemical and physiological effects on the skin. It absorbs rapidly into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. Shea butter can be effective at treating many different skin conditions some of which include: fading scars, burns, rashes, acne, blemishes, dark spots, skin discoloration, and dry and chapped skin. It can also provide natural UV sun protection, although the level of protection is extremely variable and sometimes unreliable, ranging from none at all to approximately SPF 6. Sun-sensitive persons should not rely on shea butter alone for protection.
Titanium Dioxide
This naturally occurring mineral provides a bright white color due to its high refractive index.
Sodium Chloride
Common table salt, sodium chloride is a natural byproduct of saponification.
Tetrasodium EDTA (ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid)
A type of amino acid, tetrasodium EDTA is used as a stabilizer in our products. Due to its chelating action, EDTA helps to keep ingredients from binding to elements that may change the nature of their activity in the formula, thus stabilizing the product so that texture and function remain over time.
